Crowding of the teeth
Patient started treatment at age 11 and wore braces for 26 months. He loves his new smile.
Open bite - Front teeth don't touch
Patient sucked her thumb as a young child. She started treatment at age 13. She had braces and a special appliance — called a crib — to retrain the tongue, for 28 months. Now she can bite the lettuce out of a sandwich.
DEEP OVERBITE AND OVERJET – LOWER FRONT TEETH ARE BEHIND THE UPPER FRONT TEETH AND BITING INTO THE PALATE
This 12 year old patient did not like the appearance of her teeth, and her ability to eat was being affected by her bite. She had combination of growth modification and braces to correct her overbite and overjet.
Missing lateral incisors
This patient's lateral incisors were congenitally missing. She had braces for 20 months to move the teeth into their correct positions, then the missing teeth were replaced with bonded "Maryland" bridges.
ORTHOGNATHIC SURGERY TO CORRECT ‘UNDERBITE’ – LOWER FRONT TEETH IN FRONT OF UPPER FRONT TEETH
This adult patient, age 32, had a severe growth discrepancy between his upper and lower jaws. The upper jaw did not grow forward nor wide enough and the lower jaw grew forward too much. His treatment required braces and orthognathic jaw surgery to correct.
Spacing of teeth
Patient was bothered by the spaces between his teeth. Braces closed the spaces and gave him an ideal bite in 24 months. Special glued-in retainers help keep the spaces closed.
Anterior single tooth crossbite
This child’s upper right front tooth erupted into a crossbite position. This was both a functional concern as well as esthetic concern for her parents. A simple removable appliance was used to correct this tooth position in just 4 months.
Early Treatment - Severe Underbite
This 5 year olds parents were very concerned that he had to shift his lower jaw forward to get his back teeth together. He had early palatal expansion & orthopedic protraction facemask therapy to correct his bite and prevent his forward jaw shift which left untreated could have caused abnormal lower jaw growth.
Interceptive Early Treatment
Patient's parents were concerned about both aesthetics and the health of the erupting permanent teeth when they brought him to the orthodontist at age eight. The lower front teeth were crowded and touching the palate, and the upper front teeth were extremely displaced from their normal positions. After 12 months of Phase-One treatment with an expander and partial braces, patient's appearance and dental function were vastly improved.
Implant site preparation and deepbite
This 22 year old patient was born without a lower incisor tooth. As his permanent teeth erupted he developed a significant deepbite due to the excess eruption vertically of the upper and lower front teeth. The patient had braces for 18 months to correct the deepbite and to prepare a space for his dentist to do an implant crown restoration.
Preparation for Restorative
This 40 year-old patients orthodontic treatment was part of a multidisciplinary dentistry plan. Due to his severe deepbite and the severe wear of his upper and lower front teeth, his dentist asked him to undergo orthodontics to align the gum tissue margins and correct his bite. His ultimate goal of maximizing the esthetics and function of his bite and smile were achieved.
Impacted teeth - surgical exposure and guided eruption
This adult patient had 6 over retained primary (baby) teeth and the permanent unerupted teeth were impacted above them. She had braces and the Nance appliance to enable these impacted teeth to then be surgically exposed and bonded with a bracket and gold chain - - this allowed the teeth to be guided into their proper positions.
This patient has severe crowding due to a v-shaped and narrow upper jaw. A ‘Hyrax’ palatal expander was placed to orthopedically expand the upper jaw and make space for the crowded teeth, then braces were added to move the teeth into the available space.
