Lingual braces, or braces on the inside of your teeth, have been available as a possible treatment option since the early 1980s. We offered lingual braces extensively in those years. However, they went out of favor for many years because of the limitations to applicable cases, discomfort to the patient and long treatment times.
In 2007 a new design of lingual bracket became available. These brackets eliminate the drawbacks of the original lingual braces. Lingual braces are comfortable, they are capable of most treatments available with conventional braces, and they are efficient, thus almost as fast as conventional braces.
Lingual braces are primarily used in situations where the appearance of conventional braces is not acceptable to the patient. Lingual braces are often used in place of Invisalign. Lingual braces can be less expensive than Invisalign in some cases.
